As a long-term resident of Athlone, I have watched it grow over the years and gear up to become a city. Before any re zoning can take place and potential tax increases, we need to be clear on exactly where the tax money will go. We need a detailed list of exactly what projects are a priority for Athlone with City context in mind.
For me a hospital is number 1 on the list. In addition to the list of key projects we need a plan, and we need to have a listed of gating items blocking all key aspects of the future key projects for Athlone
The zoning map is not acquit enough mixed-use space for a up and coming City I have selected one location for mixed use. Please clearly specify in your plan if the current location of Athlone Hospital will be where the new one will get built, I think it should as the train station is nearby and an additional stop could be put at the location of the hospital as the tracks run adjacent to the site.
At this stage there is zero excuses as to why the Hospital can't be rebuilt into a first-class modern hospital Athlone is in the center of Ireland and its the most convenient location for the majority of people to access location wise.
