As a ‘Key Town’, Mullingar is a regional focal point for economic development, employment generation and service provision. The town has experienced success in fostering new enterprises and employment opportunities, and in particular, advanced manufacturing specialisms. Mullingar, as a key destination for leisure and recreation, is also recognised for its significant role in promoting the tourism potential of the Midlands. A plan-led approach to economic development will be crucial to promoting the town as a vibrant, sustainable and thriving economic base.
