Settlement Strategy & Housing

This Plan seeks to support the sustainable acceleration of Mullingar’s growth in line with its status as a ‘Key Town’ and consistent with the Core Strategy of the Westmeath County Development Plan. The ‘Settlement Strategy’ for Mullingar promotes compact growth to facilitate housing delivery and the creation of sustainable communities. The Plan also recognises the importance of building resilience into Mullingar’s housing stock through a range of housing types, sizes and tenures, lifetime adaptability, universal design and sustainable accessibility.
