Proposed Development
Westmeath County Council are proposing to develop a hard-surfaced shared footpath/cycling route, along the northern and southern side of the Ardmore Road, which will be segregated from the vehicular carriageway. Public lighting installed along this route, together with a controlled crossing point at its eastern end. The total scheme length is approximately 425m. The works will generally consist of the following project elements:
• Excavation of soils and subsoils
• Disposal of surplus soil off-site to an authorised waste facility
• Culvert drain
• Importation, placement and compaction of hardcore (crushed stone)
• Installation of 50mm macadam surfacing
• Ducting for and provision of public lighting
• Works to the junction of Ardmore Hills estate road entrance
• Tree removal
• Plantings (new field boundaries with fencing and a compensatory hedge and treeline)
• Noise and general construction disturbance during daytime hours
