NOTICE OF DECLARATION OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 11 of the Roads Act 1993 and Section 180 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended), Westmeath County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to consider the making of a declaration that the roads listed hereunder in the following residential estates be a public road.

Residential Estates:

  • Glenmore Wood, Petitswood, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
  • Highfield, Ballinderry, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
  • Rathgowan Wood & Rathgowan Park, Mullingar
  • Gairdin Beag, Rathwire, Co. Westmeath
  • Oakhill, Ballynagarbry, Moate, Co. Westmeath
  • The Orchard (Phase 2), Blyry Lower, Athlone, Co. Westmeath

The Council also considers the Taking in Charge of open spaces and car parks within the attendant ground of these residential developments. Irish Water has signalled agreement to take the water services infrastructure in charge in accordance with agreed protocols. 

Maps showing the roads to be taken in charge are available for viewing at the Council’s public consultation portal from Tuesday 6th July 2021 to Wednesday 4th August 2021 inclusive.

Objections or representations in relation to the proposed declarations may be made via the Council’s Public Consultation or in writing to the Administrative Officer, Planning Department, Áras An Chontae, Mount Street, Mullingar, N91 FH4N by 5:00pm 19 August 2021. (One medium only)

Current Service to the Public during Living with Covid-19 arrangements

In line with the current Covid 19 restrictions, where the viewing of hard copies of the proposed documentation  is deemed absolutely necessary, the Planning Authority will facilitate the inspection of the aforementioned documentation at County Buildings, Mullingar, by appointment only.
