Pursuant to the requirement of the above, notice is hereby given that Westmeath County Council propose to undertake the following works:
CONSTRUCTION OF MULLINGAR REGIONAL SPORTS COMPLEX AT BLACKHALL PLACE, MULLINGAR, CO. WESTMEATH.
The 1.80 hectare site is bound by Dominic Place, Blackhall Place and Joe Dolan Road.
The proposed development consists of 9246 sqm, 2-3 storey community-based, multi-sport facility, including:
Record of Monuments and Places (RMP) and/or Sites and Monuments Record (SMR) show the site lies within the Zone of Notification (ZON) for the Historic Town (WM019-089-) of Mullingar as well as being located within the immediate vicinity of a religious house of Dominican Friars (WM019-089004-) and an unclassified castle (WM019-089008-). The proposed works are adjacent to Protected Structures including:

In addition, the proposed development is not a type of development that triggers the requirement for an EIA and subsequent preparation of an EIA Report as per the prescribed classes of development and thresholds set out in Schedule 5 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended). Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Coimisiún Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effect on the environment.
