Westmeath County Development Plan 2021-2027 Direction 2021

On 29 April 2021, the Minister of State at the Department of the Housing, Local Government and Heritage, consequent to a recommendation made to him by the Office of the Planning Regulator under section 31AM(8) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), notified Westmeath County Council of his intention to issue a Direction to the Westmeath County Development Plan 2021-2027.

The Draft Ministerial Direction relates to the Westmeath County Development Plan 2021-2027.

You can make online or postal submissions to the Draft Direction. Submissions must be made in writing no later than 5.00pm 24 May 2021. 

How to make a submission

Submissions must include the full name and address of the person(s) making the submission and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. Submissions should be in ONE medium only i.e. online or hard copy.

Submissions/Observations may be made either directly here using this website or by post. Emailed submissions will not be accepted. Please note that observations or submissions will be made public on the website and at the offices of the Planning Department.

Written observations or submissions should be marked ‘Draft Ministerial Direction to Westmeath County Development Plan 2021-2027’, and submitted to the Administrative Officer, Planning Department, Westmeath County Council, Aras An Chontae, Mount Street, Mullingar, N91 FH4N. Observations or submissions must include the full name and address of the person(s) making the submission and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. 

All submissions or observations made in respect of the Draft Direction, during this period, shall be taken into consideration by the Office of the Planning Regulator before it makes a recommendation to the Minister on the matter. 

Note: Requirement for names and addresses

Any submission should state your name, address and where relevant, the body or organisation represented. All submissions will form part of the statutory Chief Executive’s Report to be presented to the full Council.

Please be aware that this will include the names and addresses of those making the submissions.

Accordingly, the report and its contents will be included in the minutes of that meeting and consequently will be published on our website and may be shared with relevant Council and Government Departments or their agents involved in the process and may form part of reports linked to the making of any Direction.

Locations for Display of the Draft Plan

The Draft Ministerial Direction will be on display on this consultaiton portal and during normal office hours (in line with Covid-19 arrangements and excluding public holidays), at the offices of Westmeath County Council, Áras an Chontae, Mount Street, Mullingar from 11 May 2021 to 24 May 2021 (inclusive).

Copies of the Draft Ministerial Direction and associated documentation are available for purchase from the Planning Department, Áras an Chontae, Mount Street, Mullingar. For further information please phone 044 933 2165.
